Dubai is such a modern city so a majority of the places to stay are not more than two decades old and many of them are only five years old or less. The Dubai accommodation choices you have are just as clean, large and impressive, if not more, than the hotels you may have stayed in previously.
Originally, Dubai was two separate towns that had a division, the Dubai Creek (or Khor Dubai), which is part of the gulf. There was Deira located on the north and Bur Dubai on the south. These areas both contain beautiful architecture and busy souks but the oldest area of the city is Deira.
The beautiful new office buildings on Sheikh Zayed Road are now located in the middle of Dubai, close to Abu Dhabi in the center of town. The area known as Jumeirah is now moving towards the area known as Jebel Ali, which is becoming known in Dubai real estate lingo as the "new Dubai".
Baniyas Road next to Dubai Creek is now becoming the busiest area in Dubai. Baniyas Square is now called Al-Nasr Square and this area is where all the new commercial investment is taking place. Pretty soon, prime real estate will be for sale in this area, which is bound by Al-Maktoum Road, Al-Maktoum Hospital Road and Naif Road. The north side is bordered by Deira and Bur Dubai is to the south. The older souq area is located between Al-Ghubaiba Road and Diwan as well as to Khalid bin al-Waleed Road.
Dubai is centered on 10 Kilometre Creek, separating it into Deira (north) and Bar Dubai (south). On the south side, you will also find Jumeirah and the Sheikh Zayed Road, where the majority of the desert hotels can be found extending towards Jebel Ali.
Deira, the older part of Dubai, is where the commercial and business areas are centered. Deira is where you go to buy and sell gold and spice souks. Here you will find hotels like the Carlton Tower Hotel and the Hilton Dubai Creek. These two hotels overlook the creek.
Also, the Hyatt Regency Dubai can be found on Dubai Corniche, and the JW Marriott Hotel is near the center of the city. You can find more affordable Dubai accommodation in the likes of the Marco Polo Hotel and the Ramada Continental Hotel.
In Bur Dubai (south of the creek) you will find the Ascot Hotel, Capital Hotel and the Hotel Seaview. Jumeirah Beach is to the creek's west and here you will find many amazing and beautiful resorts and hotels including the Wild Wadi Water Park and the Mall of the Emirates.
The Burj Al Arab Hotel is the only Dubai property in the world with a seven-star rating. Near the Burj Al Arab Hotel, you will find the Madinet Jumeirah Resort, which is on a beautiful waterway. Another option for Dubai accommodation is the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, where you will find sporting options, great dining, conference centers, and a children's area.
The Dubai Marina is a new Dubai property development where there are both businesses and tourist attractions in the same location. The hotels here are very upscale and include the Grosvenor House, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, and the Habtoor Grand Resort and Spa.
Off of Sheikh Zayed Road you will find many new businesses in Dubai including the World Trade Center and an amazing number of Dubai accommodation choices including the Dusit Dubai Hotel & Apartments and the amazing Emirates Tower Hotel. There are great options for people traveling for business at these locations because of how close the World Trade Center is to the Ibis World Trade Center Hotel.
In the desert, you will find Dubai accommodation options such as the Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa, which is amazing. Also, you will find the Courtyard Marriot in the Green Community near Jebel Ali, which is on a lovely lake.
